RLS Land Solutions runs a sand and dirt pit operation out of two pits in southeast Fort Bend County. Our home base is Needville, and more of our work now goes into supplying material out of those pits. You can buy select fill and fill dirt at the pit by the truckload, along with bank sand. Bring your own trucks and load them there, or have the material delivered on our own tandem dump trucks.
Our pits are set up for builders, site contractors and haulers who run their own dump trucks. When a builder needs select fill, the question is who has it, and we dig ours out of our own ground. Our newer pit also holds a deep reserve of sand for bank sand orders. Both pits run as working material yards, where our large excavators load the trucks as they pull in.
Tell us about your project — we’ll get right back to you.
A pit order starts with three things: the material, the number of loads and the trucks you are sending. Our excavators fill each truck, and a load ticket is written at the pit for every load that leaves. Those tickets keep your load count and ours matched from the first truck of the job to the last. If you are not sure how many loads the job takes, send the dimensions and we will work out the yards.
Material leaves our pits one of two ways, on your trucks or on ours. Contractors and haulers with their own trucks pick up at the pit and run their own haul. Everyone else gets it delivered on our tandem dump trucks, the same fleet behind our dump truck hauling work. Deliveries run across southeast Fort Bend County and down Highway 36, US 59 and SH 288 toward the coast.
Orders of hundreds of loads for pad sites and big fills are the work our pits are built for. When a big job runs dirt 24 hours, we run three shifts and keep loading around the clock. Our excavators at the pits start in the 50,000 pound class and go up from there. A fleet of tandem dump trucks we own handles the delivered side of a big order, load after load.
Some buyers want us to place the fill on their ground as well as sell it to them. On building pads and site prep, we can price the site work with the material included in one number. The dirt comes out of our pits, and our excavators and dozers set it where the plans call for it. For a builder hunting a dirt supplier and a site contractor, that is one company for both.
Big fill orders in Fort Bend County come with a county rule worth checking before trucks roll. In unincorporated Fort Bend County, fill over 500 cubic yards per acre needs a county development permit first. Outside the mapped flood zone, the landowner also needs a drainage plan showing no impact on adjacent property. A registered professional engineer prepares it, and the Fort Bend County Drainage District has to approve it.
Over one full acre, 500 cubic yards comes to only about 3.7 inches of fill. Under that line, the county may approve a simplified grading plan, with the fill spread evenly over each acre. Raising the ground over six inches needs a permit too, as does any fill in the mapped flood zone. Our guide to how many yards a dump truck load holds turns those yards into truckloads for your order.

(281) 750-6510From the first look at the ground to the last pass of the grade, here is exactly how it goes.
We meet you at the property and read the job off the ground itself: what is growing, where water sits, how trucks and excavators get in. Big dirt work prices off what is really out there.
You get a free quote with a real number and a real plan: what gets dug or cleared, how many loads move, where the dirt comes from or goes. It holds unless the scope changes.
The equipment shows up when we said. Excavators dig, trucks run in rotation, and on deadline jobs we run shifts around the clock until the volume is moved.
The last pass matters as much as the first load. Pads compacted and holding elevation, ponds shaped and ready for water, ground graded so it drains. We look at the finished work with you before we leave.

Fifteen years working this ground, most of it repeat and referral. That time on coastal prairie clay shows what it does when it rains and what it takes to build on it.
