RLS Land Solutions handles excavation in Rosenberg, Texas, from our Needville base, about 10 miles south on Highway 36. Rosenberg sits in central Fort Bend County, on the south side of the Brazos River. The Southwest Freeway, I-69 and US 59, cuts through the south side of town. Downtown Houston sits 32 miles up that road. Our two sand and dirt pits are in southeast Fort Bend County, a short haul from Rosenberg. We sell select fill and fill dirt from those pits, and our tandem dump trucks haul it in. The outskirts of Houston are the ground we want to work, and Rosenberg sits right on that edge.
From Needville we sit in front of the growth moving out of Houston. Rosenberg is one of the places it is landing. Big projects are headed to the same country where our pits sit. Every side of town is in reach, from Bonbrook Plantation and Walnut Creek to Kingdom Heights and Summer Lakes. Commercial ground along I-69 and the Highway 90A corridor is in our range too. Our excavators run from 50,000 pounds up. Dozers and a fleet of tandem dump trucks work beside them. Site work with us starts at about $10,000. That puts us on pad sites and lakes that run to hundreds of loads.

The city's own project list shows what is coming. In 2024, the Rosenberg Development Corporation proposed sales tax money for a list of projects. One is a connector street under I-69 between Brazos Town Center Phases I and II. Another is the Koeblen Road Extension, a four-lane concrete road from FM 2218 to Seabourne Creek. The corporation also proposed incentives tied to a Dollar Tree distribution center and a Texas State Technical College campus. A site readiness program on the same list aims at future commercial development. All of it starts with dirt work. We take on site prep and building pads at that scale. Our recent work includes dirt for a data center job near Blessing.
Homes and open acreage fill in the rest of the map. Kingdom Heights and Summer Lakes both have lakes inside the neighborhood, and digging a lake is a big dirt job. South of town, Highway 36 runs down to our Needville base. On open acreage we clear brush and trees and dig ponds. Land clearing is a large share of our work. Dozers and big excavators do the pushing. Our crews have cleared and worked utility-scale solar farm sites that covered thousands of acres. Anywhere between Rosenberg and Needville is a short move for those machines.
Away from the Brazos, the land around Rosenberg is flat coastal prairie. The gumbo clay found across this part of Fort Bend County drains slowly. The city plans for that water on a big scale. Its development corporation proposed $600,000 to expand the Seabourne Creek Regional Detention Basin and add drainage capacity. Private sites face the same water on a smaller scale. We build pads up with compacted select fill and grade the ground so water runs away from the slab. On a rural tract, a pond gives that water somewhere to go. Ranchers bring us in for ponds and lakes on that kind of ground.
Which rules apply depends on the city limit line. Inside it, the City of Rosenberg writes the rules. Its planning guide says property must be platted before development unless the law exempts it. The city also strongly recommends a predevelopment meeting. For fill inside the limits, check with the City of Rosenberg before the first load. Fort Bend County's flood rules cover unincorporated ground, and Rosenberg is not on the county's interlocal list. Out there, and outside the mapped flood zone, fill over 500 cubic yards per acre needs an engineer's drainage plan. The Fort Bend County Drainage District approves that plan. That limit works out to about 3.7 inches of fill spread over an acre.
